Using the conventional approach, many people try to find work based on pay, and then they struggle to make these choices fit their own interests and abilities. Over time, they become trapped in their selection by fear, lack of attractive alternative opportunities, or reluctance to leave their comfort zone. The only thing that motivates many people to a new level is circumstances that force them to consider changing directions. Whether or not a person likes the work they find themselves doing, they tend to stick with it because they have a knack for it, and are able to satisfy their ambitions within the scope of their chosen field.
When business no longer demands the skills being performed by the current work force, thousands can be thrown out of jobs with nowhere else to go; at least in trying to apply the conventional approach. These people look for somewhere else to apply the experience gained from a dead end career, becoming frustrated and beaten down when they learn that nobody is buying what they previously had to offer. Depending on the stage of the persons career, the blow can be felt more severely than for others. Younger workers can find new avenues and training to acquire new skills, while older employees cannot see past the rut they have dug themselves into for so long. A successful rise from the ashes of lost opportunity depends on energy and recognition that the time has come to change both the vocation and direction of the work one seeks to find.
Though many people may think they are open to new avenues, there are some hidden factors that serve only to lock them into a fruitless search for a return to what has been lost. Some do not have the energy to try something completely new, or to find out where to look. Others are locked in by financial constraints they have come to depend on, and are unwilling to make changes to the lifestyle their failed career once afforded. For some, the attempt to broaden the scope of their search produces nothing from the available pool of lower opportunity careers to move toward with any sort of enthusiasm. If a person tries to ride out a downturn in demand for existing skill sets, they may find themselves waiting forever to no avail. When people choose careers that settle for what they can get at the time they are out of work, sooner or later they will no longer be able to sustain their fortunes by luck of the draw.
There are several other harsh facts that need to be considered when deciding the next steps to take in boosting career plans. First, higher education may not be the answer if professional career education is out of step with changing industry. Trade schools and universities are interested in getting and sustaining high attendance and revenues. What they say about todays highly paid careers may not line up with reality, especially for older workers trying to enter a new professional field. One technical school advertisement displays a graphic that shows your job going to India, with the statement that it is not coming back. The remaining commercial touts the exciting field of technology and how well one can expect to do with career training at this technical training institute. What they fail to mention in the advertisement is your job that went to India is the technical field.
Another harsh reality is that as workers age, new opportunities working for others become more difficult to find. Just as for the young and inexperienced, older workers find themselves increasingly unwanted despite the skills they have to offer, for different reasons. Salary expectations, the need to use health benefits, and higher costs keep older workers looking for jobs longer than experienced employees in their prime years. Even when jobs appear to be plentiful, a lot of time and effort can be wasted in pursuing opportunities that do not value the experience older workers have to offer.
The best approach for anyone to take in looking for new career choices is to begin with a different perspective than the one that may have worked years ago. What may seem to be a slightly different focus could turn out to be the one which makes the biggest difference in success. Instead of trying to fit into what you can find from available alternatives, it might help to perform a self assessment based on your current passion. Look for talents and skills that energize and uplift you. By definition, these should be things that you would enjoy doing without being paid by anyone to perform, but which result in producing something of high value to you. Search only for things that have deep and lasting meaning for you that could lead to a sense of accomplishment. Nearly everyone can arrive at something that would be an ideal activity if they take the time to think about it. When you have arrived at the things which truly uplift you, using all the interesting talents and skills you have developed over the years, you are ready to take the next step.
Carefully write down your thoughts, and be critical with your assessment of how realistic your ideas are to perform.
When you know what the ideal activity for you would be, start looking for ways to find people willing to pay you for what you want to offer. If you do not believe this exercise would have any merit, look at how many highly valued professions exist which translate into getting paid big money to play. Some prime examples are professional sports. Though athletes get a high level of respect and recognition for what they do, they are being paid more than most people can imagine for essentially playing games. If society is willing to pay athletes to compete in games, why would it be unreasonable to believe that others could make a good living doing something they truly enjoy? All it takes is energy, focus, and finding an audience for the work. Use your passion to guide you, and look for how to find others who value what you offer them. Tell others your story of how pursuing your passion has changed your life. Pursuing a passion in seeking employment can give you an edge that others cannot mimic.

Private investigation is such a versatile career that it’s no wonder many people are turning to it as an alternative career path to the more traditional ways of earning a living. In fact, the number of people turning to private investigation after spending several years in the workforce is quite impressive.
Why The Private Investigation Business Is Growing
There are many reasons why private investigators will be in demand. The growth of the private investigation business is expected to accelerate during the next decade. Here are just a few reasons:
- Crime is a major factor. People’s fear of crime is higher than it’s ever been.
- Litigation has been on an upward spiral in recent years and the need for specialist investigative techniques are being sought by not only those people initiating litigation proceedings but also from those on the receiving end.
- The internet has opened up a whole new world for private investigators. Identity theft is a major concern while online fraud continues to plague credit companies and business.
- The internet has also made the world a smaller place and in the business world, this means monitoring competitors activities has become easier.
Who Will Join The Private Investigation Business?
There’s no doubt that being self employed is an attraction for many people. The private investigation business offers people an opportunity to work for themselves. In fact, about one in four people entering the world of the P.I. during the next few years are expected to be self employed. Why? Not only is the work versatile but the financial rewards are potentially greater than working as an employee. Be careful though, the same principles of business apply in private investigation as they do to most other areas of working life and skill in running a business is still a strong necessity.
People considering running their own private investigation business are usually encouraged to spend some time with an employer and learn both the skills required to become a competent P.I. as well as the day-to-day running of a business.
The fact this is a growth industry means the competition will become cut throat for places with many people from well qualified employment backgrounds including law enforcement and the military expected to join the P.I. qeue.
License And Training Requirements
In the USA, most states require private investigators to be licensed. Requirements do differ however and you should check with your state licensing authority. As far as training is concerned, there’s a school of thought at the present time that private investigation could be introduced to some school curriculums. Because a degree isn’t required to get into the business due to the nature of the recruitment field ( most prospective P.I.’s come from other qualified careers ), educational qualifications aren’t as mandatory as they are in other work related fields.

Reducing and managing stress is one of the keys to a successful search. Too much stress and you appear desperate. Not enough and people question your motivation. Only you can decide how much stress is the right amount! Here are seven steps you can take to significantly lower stress, improve your effectiveness, and ultimately shorten your job hunt.
1. Have a realistic understanding of how long a job search takes. As a general rule of thumb figure it will take anywhere from a week (on the high side) for every $1000 of income to a month (on the low side) for every $10,000 of income. Many job seekers have an unrealistic time frame for finding their next job. It always takes longer than you think. When you dont have a realistic expectation for how long it can take it is easy to feel stressed out.
2. Develop a job search action plan. Map out where you want to go and how you are going to get there. Set specific daily and weekly goals; then develop a contingency plan for when Plan A doesnt work. Once your plan is in place and you are emotionally prepared take action!
3. Reduce unnecessary expenses immediately. Minimizing financial responsibilities and maximizing financial resources will significantly reduce stress. This is not the time to take your dream vacation. The greater your financial resources the more flexibility you have to accept the right job offer rather than grabbing the first one that comes along.
4. Think of your job search as a job. Devote as much time to it as you would to a job. Consider all of the extra hours you spent working in a job you did not particularly like. Isnt it worth spending twenty-five to forty hours a week looking for work you will enjoy?
5. Spend time on the right activities. Do spend time developing high quality marketing materials like a rsum, fact sheet, and reference list; networking with friends and colleagues who can connect you to the right people or opportunities; and following up with potential employers. Dont spend hours on the internet searching job boards for the right job. Instead use the internet to research organizations, gain information about specific industries, and network with people who can assist with your search.
6. Evaluate your progress on a weekly basis. Stay on top of your search so that you can tell immediately if your search starts to stall and take steps to get it back on track. Assess what is working do more of it. Determine what isnt working and revise your approach. If you are still stuck consider working with a career coach.
7. Take time to refresh your mind, body, and soul. Looking for a job, especially when you dont have one, is something you carry around 24/7. Remind yourself to set regular office hours and knock off at a reasonable hour. That includes taking time off on the weekends. Take a walk, go to the gym, escape with a good book, or have coffee with a friend.

There are obvious benefits to being a seasoned pharmacist. However you do have to start somewhere. Learning your skills under the watchful, encouraging eye of an established pharmacist is a gift in and of itself. Beginning as a technician and working your way toward the goal of being a lead pharmacist is an admirable journey.
Once you are established as a pharmacist you will understand what anyone who trusts a stranger to fill life saving prescriptions for them understands. There is an element of blind faith in first a physician’s ability to diagnose an illness or syndrome. Then there is a second chance to practice blind faith when you trust the pharmacist who prepares that prescription for you and your loved ones.
Though there are many jobs that a pharmacist and pharmacy technician’s carry out, the true gift behind being an effective pharmacist is the ability to know your patients on a personal level. There have been accounts where by a pharmacist will discover one or more medication that are not suitable to your conditions or illness. And there are times when a pharmacist will discover medicine that simply does not interact in a positive manner with another medicine that is prescribed to one person.
Though it is not a common occurrence, physicians will not always consider all that needs to be considered where a single patient is concerned. Perhaps this mistake begins with a patient not doing their part and sharing all aspects of their health and personal life so that a physician can do his or her job correctly.
That is where a patient utilizing the same pharmacy and hopefully a consistent pharmacist’s involvement is an asset to his or her overall health and well being. So when you are choosing a pharmacy to participate in your health care you might wish to consider how many times you see the same faces behind the counter.
The beauty of choosing the right pharmacy and pharmacists and pharmacy technicians is that unlike a physicians office where you have to pay astronomical initial fees to “taste test” a physician and his or her office workers, it costs nothing to ask around, call around and try each and every pharmacy in your direct geography in order to find the perfect choice for you.
Finding a conscientious pharmacist who has your best interest at heart is not difficult. The overall version of a pharmacy must be taken in account also. Business hours are important. We don’t always get sick or need prescriptions filled from nine to five, Monday through Friday.
As we all know, Murphy’s Law applies to things such as this and the minute your doctors office closes on Friday afternoon is right about the time your child becomes ill. If you have a repertoire and familial connection with your doctors office and more importantly your child’s pediatricians office then you know you can contact someone and get a prescription called in that will aid in the effective cure of your child. With out a pharmacy that is open and operating this prescription does you little good.

Important parts of any business are its employees. Without the employee there would be no business. Employees are the force that keeps a company working. Because employees are such an important part of a company, hiring new personnel is a serious matter. Each new employee must meet a high set of standards set by the business.
Do you need to conduct free criminal records and background checks? Its a reasonable question, especially with the prices charged by some criminal records research firms. However if the hiring is the key to acquiring a companys major resource, then free criminal records and background checks are what make the hiring complete.
Managers can make informed hiring decisions by using free criminal records and background checks. The data received in these checks is critical in discovering a persons character. Free criminal records and background checks are needed to protect a companys best interest. There are far too many cases of managers hiring people without a background check. Later while on the job, the employee commits a crime and the company is held liable.
Neglect on issues of hiring supervision, security, training, and retention can cause a loss in company productivity but in extreme cases can result in serious injury or loss of employee life. The company must conduct free criminal records and background checks to protect all its assets.
More and more states are passing laws that require free criminal records and background checks during the employee screening. Florida is particular about free criminal records and background checks, especially in areas where care is provided as a service. This includes checking volunteers, as well as new hires. Any volunteer or person seeking employment in a company caring for the elderly, children, and people with disabilities are required by state and federal law to undergo free criminal records and background checks.
Currently, twenty-nine states keep central databases for those conducting free criminal records and background checks. There are no national databases thus one must search each state individually. Today you can do these kinds of searches directly online from your computer.

Although the famous investigators Sherlock Holmes had a basic garb that consists of a deerstalker hat, an overcoat, a sturdy boots and a magnifying glass, these are not the essential things that you will need should you decide to take the plunge and involve yourself in investigative work.
In fact, except for the magnifying glass, which is not even an essential anymore, the rest are just for show and would not really help you solve any mystery that you may be pursuing.
Investigative work, surprising as it may be, is not so filled drama and action like some people think. In fact, some private investigators get boring assignments that involve researching in dusty old library areas or staying in some coffee shop doing surveillance work.
Most private investigators would just be asked to do some background checks for would-be employees, especially those that will handle a great deal of money or a position of trust in a company. Others are asked to track down persons who have been missing for a number of years or parents who have abandoned their children.
There are some who will even be given an assignment to just be the discreet shadow of some gentleman and in some cases a lady and record their daily activities, especially the extra-marital ones. These are all pretty boring compared to the crime scene investigators that we get to see in televisions.
Still, despite having different assignments, the equipment that one use in the field are basically the same. Below are just some of the essential must-haves for any private investigator.
1. Camera
This is perhaps the most essential as this will serve as your proof or record should you discover something. Cameras are remarkably flexible especially the digital ones that are already out in the market. Not only can you take photographs of people, you can also take photographs of documents that you do not have the time to copy.
2. Tape recorder
This is another essential because one must be able to record conversations especially interviews with potential witnesses and even suspects.
3. Video
Another must have is the video camera, which can be really handy if you do not want to be forever clicking. This is also handy when you want to do some surveillance work in a room where you cannot stay in. Some digital photographic cameras also have video options that you can use in emergency situations. Just make sure that you buy a memory stick that is heavy with the gigabytes. This is to make sure that you do not run out of memory at crucial moments in the investigation.

A copywriter is a person tasked to write the text used for advertisements in magazines, newspapers, television, radio and other kinds of media. A copywriter may also be assigned to come up with the words for press releases, informational or promotional pamphlets, and other promotional materials. A copywriter may also be tasked to rewrite or edit existing materials. Thus, a copywriters job is a very flexible and potentially exciting career in the wide world of advertising and marketing.
Where Does a Copywriter Work?
A copywriter usually works in advertising firms, retail stores, and marketing companies in a metropolitan area. The working environment of a copywriter is usually found to be quite hectic, which makes creativity under pressure necessary. Advertising is known to be a very fast-paced field where many crises can suddenly occur. A copywriter is usually pressured by short deadline and successive assignments daily. A copywriter is often asked for several revisions at the last minute. This job is therefore not for the weak-hearted or the unengaged.
How Fulfilling Is a Copywriters Job?
Novice and assistant copywriters usually start off with an annual salary of about $30,000 to $35,000 working it up to some $40,000 when they become full-pledged. A senior copywriter may eventually earn some $100,000 a year and about $125,000 if he or she becomes promoted as copywriting chief. A copywriter has the potential to later become creative director and earn as much as $200,000 annually.
A copywriter, like most other workers, is usually required to work 40 hours a week, but it is usually expected to have a lot of overtime in this career. Fortunately overtime is compensated accordingly. A copywriter becomes most busy during key times depending on the nature of their firms trade department store copywriters work most during holiday and sale seasons, advertising copywriters work a lot during big advertising campaigns.
Many copywriters today are privileged with profit-sharing schemes afforded by their company. A copywriter also gets the usual benefits such as paid vacations and holidays, pension plans, health care, hospitalization insurance and life insurance. Copywriting can be quite a rewarding job.
How to Become a Copywriter?
A copywriter is expected to be skilled in coming up with great advertising ideas as well as putting them to paper in a very articulate and effective manner. A copywriter should also have a good grasp of layout and typography because visuals are also very important in advertising.
Most advertising agencies require aspiring copywriters to have a solid background in the field, preferably working for at least three years in the business. Copywriters are of course expected to have obtained a college degree, usually in liberal arts, communications, business management, and marketing. A lot of copywriters take college courses that combine creative writing with marketing and this prepares them well for a good copywriting career.
To get hired as a copywriter, one has to be able to combine a solid formal education with an active writing experience. Most copywriters not only had degrees in communications or business, but they actually wrote while studying whether in school publications or community newsletters. A good idea is to present well-written works such as essays and articles.
Are there Opportunities for Growth for a Copywriter?
There is much room for growth for a copywriter. Copywriters working in department stores can become chief of copywriting or fashion coordinator and work their way to become division manager and even advertising chief. Copywriters working in advertising agencies may be promoted as copy supervisor, advancing to copy chief, and then account executive, and ultimately to creative directorship. A copywriters job can indeed be quite fulfilling.
In the growing world of business and advertising a copywriter can find a great home with many opportunities for earning and career expansion. Some people undermine the work of copywriters merely because their job seems to be placed at the bottom of the bureaucracy. However a copywriter with the right determination and skill can definitely work his or her way to the top the way their more business-oriented peers do.
Copywriting can be a very fulfilling career for those who have the right skills for the job. If you are full of bright ideas and know how to write well then you might want to try out becoming a copywriter.

Loose Lips; Sink Ships
A friend of mine just called and said that he was told that he was going to get laid off.
I said to myself I know this guy’s working habits and he’s the last guy anybody would want to lay off. So it must be someone who wants to undermine him. If you are on the job, and someone comes up to you and says there is going to be a layoff, do not let this affect your attitude towards work.
Some people think that this is a form of entertainment. They prey upon individuals who are insecure. If you are doing just fine, and you are not on the lay off list, and you let this information affect you, then you run the risk of making a logistical error, that may in fact, put you on the layoff list, when you would have never made it there in the first place.
This is corporate psychological warfare, and the perp (or perps) of the rumor have a motive, and that motive is to disrupt your productivity.
By running their little game, they attempt to increase their chances of staying by causing you to make a mistake and look bad, while they maintain their quasi-pseudo status quo. When in reality, the boss has known all along who will be staying, and who will be leaving.
If perchance you have cardinal knowledge, and know you are staying, do not convey this; because you will undoubtedly draw the ire of the big guns, which may, or may not be effective, but you surely do not need the added competition, at this time, for no reason.
Also, it may not always be just one person, but a group that works together to attack one individual, or a selected group of individuals. If it’s a group, than they probably may have first established ties outside the work environment, previous to ever entering the job. Some likely suspect groups would be school alma-maters, the company bar crowd, fraternal organizations that do funny handshakes, or just plain old nepotism. (the family plan)
So now let’s break this thing down. If you are planning to get laid off, then you can just stop reading here. But if not, then trust me, all a boss really wants is for you to be able to do your job, get along with everybody, and show up every day.
A good formula for keeping a job, is to be diplomatic, be a sponge, and be there. Being diplomatic is pretty much self-explanatory, being a sponge means soaking up as much knowledge about the job as possible, and being there, means don’t miss any days. You would be surprised how long you can make a job last by following those three simple little maxims. I would actually go so far as to say that a person could keep a job for as long as they want, if they just never violate those three rules.
OK, now let’s analyze. Let’s say that you are fat, dumb, and happy on-the-job. You’re minding your own business, and you are getting the job done. Everything is hunky-dory. Along comes Major Bozo, or Bozette, and injects his or her venom. Now that you have been stung with the idea of being laid off, the first thing a logical person would do is put themselves in that scenario. Once metaphysically placed in such a negative environment, Pandora’s box swings wide-open, and the tendency is to invent a worst-case scenario. Possibly one where you have not found a new job, and your savings or unemployment is about to run out. Now remember, you are still on in the job, but you are hypothesizing all of this. Do you think all of this is going to have a positive effect on your productivity? Do you think this little internal soap opera is going to make you “chipper”? No it’s not. Now remember, the purp is looking for a change, any change….to the negative.
So, how do you fight back? I’ll tell you exactly how you fight back. As soon as someone says anything about a layoff, you do absolutely nothing different. You ignore it. You act like it was never said. Like your ears never heard it. You do not react in even the slightest way. You just keep on doing as you have always done. Do not let this psychological warfare affect your ability to earn a living. Chances are, you are a good egg, and you are not, and never were, destined for the layoff list.
Don’t overreact. Do not get up on a soap box and start venting everything that has been bothering you since day one; because you will be playing right into the hands of the enemy by overreacting; and your detractors will love it.
Watch your start and stop times. When the boss has been instructed to come up with a lay off list, and there are empty slots on it that have to be filled, this is how he finds new entries, do not all of a sudden become a slacker, just because of the effect of a rumor.
Look, even if there is a sea change, and everybody gets laid off, you will still need these people for reference, and if they remember that in your final days on the job, you blew it, then that may have an negative effect on the reference that you’ll need for a new employer; and not just the next one, a good reference can be used for many new jobs to come.
If by chance you are the type of personality that just can’t contain yourself; say an OCD; then I recommend that you do this: In your head, to yourself, not out loud, make a list of all the good things, and positive accomplishments that happened to you on the job. Only the positive. And if you are the type that likes to repeat something over and over to yourself, like a broken record, let it be that.
Depending on what kind of work you do, every job has a beginning, a middle, and an end. And sometime during the “perceived” finale, you can pretty much rest assured that the rumor mill will wander into the white hot spotlight. But, again, this may not necessarily apply to you. So, however difficult it may seem, when emotions are running high, try to remain as confident as possible, and be ready to do your act, when you get the queue from Bozo.

Preparing for an interview for an audit job is no different than preparing for any other job interview. If you keep in mind a few simple facts, youll be able to field any questions shot at you, and create a positive impression on those wholl be making the hiring decisions for the jobs youre seeking.
1. Consider your audience.
When you step into an interview, youre stepping out on stage and your interviewers are your audience. Keep their interests in mind. Your interviewers will be trying to answer three basic questions:
- Is this person qualified for the job?
- Will this person fit well within this company?
- What value will this person add to the firm?
When answering questions from the interviewer, keep in mind that your answers should tell him or her what skills you can bring to the table, and help them see you within the context of their workplace.
2. Remember that an interview is a two-way road.
Contrary to popular belief, your job in a job interview isnt to convince the firm to hire you. The interview is a two way road, and you should be as interested in learning if youll fit comfortably into the job role youre seeking. Your responses to any questions should put you in a positive light but they should be honest. Likewise, you should learn as much as you can about the working environment at the firm where youd like to work, and the responsibilities and qualifications that the firm expects. Asking questions about the job and the firm will not only get you the information that you need, it will present you as a person who is interested in more than just a salary.
3. First appearances are important.
Your appearance and dress will play a big part in forming a first impression on the companys representatives. Your clothing should always be neat, clean and pressed. What you wear is less important than how you wear it, though. Polished shoes, clean fingernails and a positive, confident attitude will go a long way in making the best first impression.
4. Research the firm.
Before your interview, learn as much about the firm, the audit department and the audit job itself as you possibly can. The more you know, the better your position to shine in the interview. Search for current news stories involving the firm, particularly paying attention to anything that involves the department for which youre interviewing. Use that knowledge to help you frame answers and questions in your interviews.
5. Clearly express your interest in the position.
If, at the end of the interview, youre still interested in the position, make that interest clear. Theres nothing wrong with saying, After speaking with you about this job, Im more interested than ever. I think that my background and skills are an excellent match. When can I expect to hear from you regarding a second interview?
6. Thank your interviewer.
Be sure to thank your interviewers for their time before you leave, then follow up with a note thanking them again and expressing your continued interest in the position.
