According to a recent article at a top web site for employment searches in reference to legal secretary work, job growth for legal secretaries will grow at an average rate and many positions will be available as many experienced workers either retire or transfer to other occupations. This is of course is good news to you if you are interested in becoming a legal secretary.
If you are new to this field and you want to be successful without wasting a lot of money as with anything you should do your research and find out as much information as you can before spending a lot of money or going to a school. Just because you go to a school this does not mean that you will learn the things that you need to know in order to become successful in this field. In fact, many legal secretaries and legal word processors did not necessarily go to school. Let me be clear. One does not become a legal secretary by chance. You will have to concentrate on typing speed, your knowledge of Microsoft Word and how to gain employment by registering at employment agencies for work.
Also, there are some things that make legal secretarial work different than just being a secretary. One very important thing when working in law firms is automatic paragraph numbering in Microsoft Word. This is one thing you have to know besides the basics of Microsoft Word. Another thing is file management systems and again just because you go to a school does not mean that you will be taught these things. A lot of schools just follow a curriculum and sometimes teach things that are not even necessary.
If you are interested in finding out what you need to know before going to a legal secretarial school or learning from any other source to avoid wasting your time first visit http://www.technorb.com You will get a good starting point and strong foundation in beginning your legal secretarial or legal word processing career. Colleges and universities are fond of reminding anyone who will listen that there is great value in earning a bachelor’s degree. In the most recent statistics available the U. S. Census Bureau tends to agree.
Results from the 2004 Census Bureau report shows a $23,000 difference between the average annual salary of adults with a bachelor’s degree ($51,554) compared to adults with a high school diploma ($28,645).
In what may or may not be an anomaly, the income gap narrowed slightly from five years earlier when bachelor’s degree graduates made nearly twice as much as high school graduates.
The percentage of Americans 25 and older with a bachelor’s degree rose to 28%, and the percentage with a high school diploma rose to 85%. In 1970, 36 years ago, only 11% of Americans had a bachelor’s degree and a little more than half had a high school diploma.
It is probable that the increase over time has had much to do with the advent of technology in our society, and the impact of Internet accessibility to the general public in 1993 and 1994 through the creation of browsers.
If you are wondering, Minnesota, Utah, Montana, New Hampshire, Alaska and Washington had the highest proportions of adults with at least a high school diploma, all at about 92%. Texas had the lowest with about 78%.
Connecticut had the highest proportion of adults with a bachelor’s degree (37%) and West Virginia had the lowest (15%).
I have long been a believer that there is no real correlation between education and income unless the degree leads to a high paying profession, such as a physician, attorney or dentist. I have known too many people with bachelor’s degrees working at McDonald’s restaurants.
My standard comment is that it is not like all people with bachelor’s degrees make $100,000 a year and those with high school diplomas make $30,000. I also have known many people with only high school degrees and some high school dropouts who make well in excess of $100,000 annually, especially in sales.
Bill Gates is a college dropout who ranks as the richest man in the world. Forbes magazine rates William H. Gates III as the richest person in 2006 with $53 billion, proving perhaps that even Harvard dropouts can make a lot of money.
You, dear reader, will have to decide for yourself how big a difference in income is possible with a college degree instead of settling for a high school diploma. There is no question in my mind that the income gap will increase as the upper and lower edges of our middle class are falling away and the gap between the rich and poor in America widens.
I also have found little correlation between talent and income, intelligence and income and experience and income. Is there anyone in America who has not heard of the starving artist, or educated idiots in menial jobs, or janitors becoming millionaires?
The only real correlation I have noticed is between people skills and income. How else can you reasonably explain how a high school dropout becomes a self-made, multi-millionaire entrepreneur?
These successful entrepreneurs may not have perfect subject-verb agreement when they speak, but they certainly know how to relate to people in a meaningful way. You may have noticed that the whole world steps aside for the man who knows where he is going (ditto for women).
Also of note is the Bureau of Labor Statistics National Compensation Survey which shows that white-collar earnings average $21.85 an hour while blue-collar earnings average $15.03 and service occupations average $10.40.
Source information for the following statistics come from the Employment Policy Foundation.
The jobs that pay the most generally require at least a bachelor’s degree (4 years of higher education) and several also require graduate (master’s or doctorate) degrees. Here are the average annual incomes during 2003 for the nation’s Top 12 Paying Jobs:
Top 12 Paying Jobs Overall
$147,000 Physicians and Surgeons
$133,500 Aircraft Pilots
$116,000 Chief Executives
$112,000 Electrical and Electronic Engineers
$99,800 Lawyers and Judges
$90,000 Dentists
$85,500 Pharmacists
$84,700 Management Analysts
$84,000 Financial Analysts, Managers and Advisors
$83,000 Computer and Information System Managers
$80,000 Marketing and Sales Managers
$80,000 Educational Administrators
Top Paying Jobs That Generally Require an Associate Degree or Certificates of Training
The jobs that pay the next best annual average salaries tend to be technical in nature and generally require an associate degree (2 years of higher education) and/or job-specific training certificates. Here are the average annual incomes during 2003 for the Top 6 Paying Jobs:
$66,000 Healthcare Practitioners
$58,000 Business Analysts
$57,000 Electrical and Electronic Engineers
$56,800 Mechanical Engineers
$54,000 General and Operations Managers
$50,400 Computer and Information System Managers
Top Paying Jobs That Generally Require a High School Diploma
These jobs generally require a high school diploma and emphasize work experience and on-the-job training rather than college degrees. Here are the average annual incomes during 2003 for the Top 6 Paying Jobs:
$58,900 Computer Software Engineers
$56,400 Computer and Information System Managers
$55,000 Computer Programmers
$49,000 Network Systems and Data Communications Analysts
$48,000 General and Operations Managers
$48,000 Database, Network and Computer Systems Administrators
Top Paying Jobs That Do Not Require a High School Diploma
These jobs tend to require substantial on-the-job training and work experience rather than formal education and specialized training. Here are the average annual incomes during 2003 for the Top 6 Paying Jobs:
$36,400 Bailiffs, Correctional Officers and Jailers
$36,400 Legal Assistants
$36,000 Industrial Production Managers
$36,000 Drafters
$33,600 Construction Managers
$31,900 Electricians
Sometimes the sources for these statistics are not really clear in the significance of their findings. You will notice that whatever the educational level, the positions for Computer and Information System Managers are mentioned.
It is the 9th highest paying job at $83,000 in highest educational level, shows up at $50,400 with a two-year degree and becomes the 2nd highest paying job at $56,400 for high school graduates.
The difference in salaries at different educational levels could have to do with the size of the company the worker serves. There is a difference in responsibility and technical requirements for a company generating $10 million in annual revenue as opposed to a company generating $100 million or $1 billion in annual revenue.
I believe it is also important to understand that many people with Top 12 paying jobs are self-employed professionals who are able to take many legitimate deductions in their business tax returns that workers do not enjoy.
Deductions lower their net taxable income. The earnings you see here can be much lower than their actual earnings because deductions can be “paper write-offs,” deductions that result from depreciation, for example, that can amount to thousands of dollars credit with no out-of-pocket expenses.
It almost goes without saying that many savvy college and high school graduates also have part-time businesses that allow them legitimate deductions that lower the net taxable income from their jobs.

When accepting a new job, salary negotiation is so important. You may have to consider many additional costs that may not be readily apparent to you, which the new job may demand and which are not there in your present job. The costs may or may not be quantifiable but it is important to be aware of them when thinking of salary negotiation. This article explains these issues in more detail.
The salary that you want to earn in the new job should not be a fixed figure but rather be in a range. This is because during salary negotiation of the new job the total cost involved may not be clear in the beginning. The expected figure should be disclosed to the prospective employer after fully understanding all the implications of the new job and may require to be calculated. One of the undisclosed expenses may be health insurance. The insurance policy of the new employer may require you to pay a higher amount from your pocket for each pay period whether it is weekly or bi weekly or monthly. Even if it is a small amount per pay period, an annual calculation may make it substantial.
If for instance the dress code of the new job requires you to wear a formal dress while you may be allowed to wear a casual dress in your present job, upgrading the wardrobe may cost you a tidy sum. Commuting to the workplace is another expense that you have to consider while negotiating a new job. If the place of work is at considerable distance away from your home, it may involve additional expense towards fuel and car maintenance or public transport.
Paid overtime hours is an important issue you have to consider. If your present job pays for your overtime hours and the new job requires you to be on call 24 hours, then you may be actually getting less if you divide the extra hours put in from your annual salary. Even if it is a few hour a week, it will become considerable amount when calculated for an entire year.
There are many other issues, which are sometimes called perks to consider like reimbursement of tuition expenses, flexible working hours, 401(k) contribution, on-site daycare and health clubs, company paid training, mobile phone and/or laptop computer provided by the company, paid professional membership to associations and institutes, vacation and personal holidays, car parking expenses, tax deductible expenses, and the possibility of working from home. Many of these factors are intangible benefits one might not be able calculate them in dollar terms but depending on your situation they may be very important to you like for example the option of working from home for a mother having small kids to look after at home.
When you make a comparison of the above items with your present job, this would give you an idea of the additional expenses that you have to bear in the new job, giving you a more accurate actual take home figure and putting you in a better, more knowledgeable position while negotiating the salary for your new job.

Are you currently seeking employment? Looking for a new profession? Considering a career change? Then a job in the field of Search Engine Marketing should be at the top of your list. Here are 10 reasons why:
1) The Search Industry is HOT
The first dot-com bubble may have burst 6 years ago, but the current bubble is getting bigger and stronger every day. One of the main reasons for the current dot-com boom is the skyrocketing growth of the search engine industry. No longer the territory of geekdom, search has exploded into the mainstream over the past few years and businesses are falling over themselves to get seen by online searchers. And they’ll pay big bucks to search engines for the privilege.
Have you noticed that Google shares recently hit USD 500 EACH? It’s not a coincidence. Search giants like Google, Yahoo and AOL can’t fail to make money because everybody wants a bit of the search action. There’s no denying, search is HOT, HOT, HOT.
2) It’s Considered one of Four Jobs on the Cutting Edge
According to a recent article - http://msn.careerbuilder.com/custom/msn/careeradvice/viewarticle.aspx?articleid=788&SiteId=cbmsnhp4788&sc_extcmp=JS_788_home1>1=8421&cbRecursionCnt=2&cbsid=dffd02a7a8aa4561ad84b5dd0251859b-220746271-WF-2 - on MSN Careers, the position of Search Engine Optimizer is considered one of four jobs on the cutting edge right now. Who gave it this title? A representative from the world’s largest specialized recruitment firm - Robert Half International Inc.
Search Engine Optimization is considered a sub-set of Search Engine Marketing. If you’re unsure what a Search Engine Optimizer (SEO) does, below is a definition provided by MSN Careers:
“Search engine optimizers (SEOs) increase a firm’s Web site traffic by improving its search-engine page rankings. This is an especially important task in today’s Internet-driven world, where many customers first learn of an organization and its products or services through the Web. Because of a shortage of experts in this relatively new area, many top SEOs receive multiple job offers. SEOs typically supplement their knowledge of how various search engines operate and determine page rankings with strong marketing skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and program using HTML.”
Wikipedia also defines Search Engine Optimizers here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_Engine_Optimizers.
3) The Pay is Fantastic
A job in the search industry can be unbelievably lucrative. As noted recently - http://www.searchengineguide.com/searchbrief/senews/008127.html - by Jennifer Laycock of Search Engine Guide, “There are quite literally more jobs than there are skilled marketers and salaries can skyrocket to almost embarrassing levels.”
Have you seen the type of salaries that search engine marketing and search engine optimization consultants are currently commanding in the US? Clearly, the search industry is making some people rich. Here are some typical salaries in USD:
Entry level SEO/SEM position = $30-45K
Three to five years experience / online account managers = $50-75K
Five + years / organic SEO specialists = $75-90K
Senior management level = $70-120K
SEM Director = $95-150K
VP Level = $100-315K

4) You Don’t Need a College Degree
Because the search industry is relatively young, there are only a handful of online courses and certifications offered in the field of Search Engine Marketing (Search Engine College - http://www.searchenginecollege.com - being one training provider).
Most search engine marketing practitioners are self-taught, learning the trade by experimenting with their own sites, researching trends, attending conferences and participating in discussion forums and so employers don’t generally require SEO / SEM certification or a tertiary qualification as a pre-requisite for a position in the industry.
However, candidates who hold a marketing degree or specific industry certification in Search Engine Marketing may well have an edge over their fellow applicants when it comes to interview selection.
5) You Can Learn it all Online
Everything you need to know to become a Search Engine Marketer, you can learn online. All the information is out there, you just have to find it. To become an expert in SEO / SEM, you need to do research, research and more research. Read everything you can get your hands on relating to search on a daily basis, including articles, forums, ebooks, blogs and newsfeeds. Then you need to put this knowledge into practice by experimenting with your own sites, or finding guinea pig sites to practice on such as those of friends, family or charity sites until you find the methods that give you the best results. Programming knowledge is not a pre-requisite for SEO / SEM jobs, but it does help to learn basic HTML. There are plenty of free HTML tutorials online.
If you don’t fancy years of research or are in a hurry to jump-start your career in search, consider taking an online Certification course in one of the many Search Engine Marketing disciplines such as the Certification Pathways - http://www.searchenginecollege.com/search-engine-college-certification-pathways.htm - provided by Search Engine College. These type of courses are usually tutor-led and designed to fast-track your training and ensure you gain the right type of skills to make you immediately employable within the search industry.
6) You Can Be Your Own Boss
Because most of the work you’ll be doing is online, Search Engine Optimizers and Search Engine Marketers often have the freedom of choice to work for an employer, work from home and/or freelance. Many SEO / SEM freelancers end up hiring workers and starting their own company due to the massive demand. This gives search engine marketing experts the work from home lifestyle that others can only dream of.
7) Search Marketing Has the WOW Factor
Once they know what they’re doing, it’s very easy for a Search Engine Marketer to wow their clients. The difference that a successful SEO or PPC campaign can make to a client’s bottom line is substantial. I’ve seen online conversion rates for a client zoom from 1% to a massive 5% after just two small tweaks to their web site. And although rankings are not as important as actual conversions, clients still get very excited to see their site listed in the top 10 search results for certain keywords. It’s the WOW factor in action.
8) The Demand is Strong and Growing
As mentioned in relation to search engine salaries, there are literally many more jobs than there are skilled marketers to fill them. This extreme demand means Search Engine Marketers can pick and choose their jobs and/or clients. The more skilled marketers are head-hunted regularly. For Search Engine Optimization firms, there are more than enough clients to go around and rarely a need to advertise for new business. That’s why you often find SEOs turning away clients or recommending their competitors during extremely busy periods.
Experts in select specialties such as Pay Per Click Advertising (a sub-set of Search Engine Marketing) are currently enjoying even higher demand than usual, as advertisers out-bid each other to have their site shown for popular keyword searches on Google, Yahoo! and MSN. Another indicator of high demand is the sheer number of search-related job postings seen on employment sites such as those listed here: http://www.searchenginecollege.com/hub/weblinks.php?cat_id=45.
9) The Industry is Hip and Groovy
There’s something very trendy about people in search that I can’t quite put my finger on. There’s a constant buzz around them. If you’ve ever been to a search engine conference or to Googles headquarters you’ll know what I mean. Maybe it’s the fact that they’ve come from so many different professions. Or that the age range of search marketers varies from teens to Baby Boomers. Or their whacky dress sense. Maybe it’s the smell of money and happiness that they give off. Maybe it’s the fact that they are constantly in the media. I don’t know. All I know is that it’s no longer uncool to be a geek. In fact it’s downright hip to be square.
10) The Skills Are Portable and Global
Skills in search engine marketing are portable and global. You don’t need to be at a desk, in an office or on the phone all day. You don’t even need to meet your clients. Of all my clients, I’ve probably only met 20 percent of them and spoken to half of them on the phone or via chat. You can be on vacation for six months out of the year in various locations and still conduct business. You literally only need a computer and an Internet connection. The Internet is the universal equalizer. You can service clients in any country in the world, in many different languages. You can compete with one man operations and Fortune 500 companies on the same level playing field. The flexibility of the search industry is a huge advantage over other career options. Have laptop, will travel!
11) Job Satisfaction is High
Search is a fascinating industry. With all the hype, daily gossip, corporate take-overs, start-ups and geek toys, I can guarantee that you won’t get bored. This combined with the flexible work hours, low start-up costs, ability to be your own boss and the excellent income keeps job satisfaction high for Search Engine Marketers. So what are you waiting for? Go get a job in search!

Unless you are one of the few mortals left on Earth who will be employed by only one business for the duration of your existence, you will soon be subject to another job interview.
When your occupation circumstances change, you have to go out and look for a new job. Once you land that job interview, you have to be cognizant of the interview trap, questions asked by the interviewer prepared to get you to let slide your temperament. There are basically three approaches the interviewer uses to get a little deeper into your personality.
Being Pessimistic
The primary technique is when an interviewer goes pessimistic. They may pick out one aspect of the job and pretty much talk bad about it. It may be anything associated with the job, such as travel, number of working hours, or working surroundings. The interviewer is paying attention to see if you correspond with their assessment. The way to deal with this technique is to stay positive, always answer questions in a manner that states you see no problem with dealing with whatever is thrown your way.
Name Dropping
Another technique you may see in a job audience is the name dropping trap. If your interviewer knows your industry or your previous employer, they may throw out the name of somebody you may know and may have worked with in the past. Keep your person is someone you have worked with, go ahead and admit it, but keep your opinion of that person to yourself. The interviewer is trying to see if you like to gossip.
The Deep Dig
Towards the end of the interview, you may be subject to the dig deep technique. This is where the interviewer ask you if there is anything else they should know about to assist them in their hiring decisions. The incorrect approach to answer this question is to state the obvious - try not to give a generic answer such as “I work harder than anybody else.” Prepare for this question before the interview. Think about one or two things that help explain why you applied for this position and why you want this position, try not to sound desperate.
Understand that the interviewer is trying to trip you up and see how you handle pressure make sure you know how to deal with these situations.

If you are looking for a way to protect your ‘income potential’ in virtually any economy, you have to know that there is one career, if mastered, that truly is economy proof. That is the selling profession. The reason is quite simple. Economies are driven by the sale of goods, services and even the sale of information or ideas. In fact, economically speaking, ‘nothing happens until something is sold’.
When there is a slowdown in the economy, however created, people who produce goods or provide services are among the first to lose their jobs. While it is true that some salespeople also may be laid off because there are fewer customers, salespeople, especially master salespeople, have a decided advantage over producers of goods and services. Consider this.
If you have framed houses for 10 years and a downturn in the economy slows home building significantly, you will need to find a completely new line of work. If you have worked on an automobile assembly line and sales drop 15% forcing mass layoffs, where do you go? In production type jobs, layoffs are often linked to seniority, rather than ability. If you are downsized or if you are in manual work and your body wears out, what do you do? If you don’t have an expensive college education, yet you still want an exceptional income, what do you do?
In the selling profession, layoffs are more often tied to results. Any organization that sells a product or service to survive and prosper, will not generally, layoff their top producers first. I can virtually assure you of that. It wouldn’t make business sense, would it? Even in the event that the business completely closes down, it will be the sales masters that will be in demand by other companies before anyone else is. Professional sports teams pay big money for superstars. So do sales organizations. Sales masters literally write their own paychecks in any economy.
Selling is the locomotive of the economy and master salespeople are the engineers of that locomotive. Now, you maybe thinking that you have never sold, never have thought of selling or perhaps you have a belief system that tells you that you can’t or never could sell successfully. Perhaps you have never thought about the incredible benefits that you can enjoy by choosing selling as a career. Perhaps you have believed that it would take years to become a successful salesperson.
If you are experiencing any of those thoughts, I invite you to check out all 8 articles in this series and keep an open mind. Once you see the whole picture, you can decide. In the meantime, please don’t sell yourself short. Master salespeople are created, not born. That means that you can choose to become a master yourself.
Throughout my career as a sales manager and sales trainer / coach I specialized in guiding individuals with absolutely no selling experience whatsoever to become top producers. I can help you too, whether you have selling experience or not.
Please invest a little time in yourself and check out what I can offer you. Remember, don’t sell yourself short. I’ll even give you my free introductory 5 part Mini Course just for stopping by. http://www.salestraininghere.com/

No successful football team can function without an effective coachand, increasingly, businesses are finding that they cannot prosper without a coach guiding their path. The same philosophy holds true for individuals who believe that they need a strong coach to help motivate them to make the most of their lives.
Because of this, individuals with an entrepreneurial bent are increasingly turning to business and life coaching as a full-time pursuit. Not only can they derive great personal satisfaction by encouraging business professionals, busy moms and dads, and marriage-minded singles to strive to attain dreamsthey can also earn an impressive income doing it. The International Coach Federation estimates that full-time business and life coaches can now make more than $100,000 a year.
Since the field of business and life coaching is in its infancy, there are no distinct rules concerning educational requirementsalthough, generally speaking, a successful coach must have at least a bachelors degree. Obviously, the higher your level of educational achievement, the greater the demand for your services. In addition, accredited coaching programs offer certification for individuals looking to enhance their credentials.
Professional coaches help to motivate individuals to set attainable goals and to accomplish tasks. They are skilled communicators who are part cheerleader, part drill sergeant. In addition, they can help people to find their passion, whether it be in business or in recreation. Areas of interest for professional coaches include helping to instill leadership skills in others, helping to guide individuals in their personal relationships, and assisting people with financial planning.
Those who go into the field of personal coaching find it to be an incredibly rewarding experience. Its often a way for individuals to give back to their communities, helping both business owners and heads of households to be happier, more productive people.

Winners are positive thinkers. But without exception they also know that the powerful force of positive thinking must be leavened with a proper dose of negative thinking for Class A performance.
Planning The Company Picnic
Consider this scenario to illustrate the point:
Your boss asks you to plan the company picnic for employees and their families. This is a chance to display your skills in organizing and executing a project.
You secure the location. You line up a caterer to provide a delicious barbeque with all the trimmings. You plan entertainment, including clowns for the kids and games for all ages.
You are ready to submit your plans to the boss, but hold up. You are out on a limb if you don’t have answers for such negative questions as these: What if it rains that day? Have you lined up an alternate site? What will you do about warding off pests such as ants and mosquitoes? Have you planned for first aid kits? Have you designated someone to take your place if you are sick the day of the big event?
They Didn’t Plan On Hitting An Iceberg
Before the Titanic’s maiden voyage a nervous passenger asked the captain, “Is this ship really unsinkable?” In the ultimate burst of positive thinking, the captain replied, “Madam, God himself could not sink this ship.”
Positive thinkers all, the owners had provided lifeboats for less than half of the approximately 2,200 passengers. When the Titanic hit a huge iceberg and sank only 705 people made it into lifeboats and survived the frigid waters of the North Atlantic.
Too bad someone hadn’t leavened all that blind confidence with a little negative thinking.
Murphy’s Law
There are more values than a bit of irony and hearty chuckles to be found in Murphy’s Laws. How do the following laws square with your experience?
If anything can go wrong, it will.
Everything takes longer to accomplish than you first imagine.
Everything is more difficult to accomplish than you anticipate.
Everything costs more than you expect.
Guidelines For Negative Thinking
Winners ask the following six basic questions about all of their projects each and every day.
1. What can go wrong?
2. What must I do to keep my project from jumping the track?
3. If, despite my best efforts, my project does derail what will I do to straighten out the wreckage and minimize the losses?
4. Is the potential reward from the project worth the risk
5. Can I afford the losses?
6. If I lose, how will it affect my other projects and my career?
Of course you must believe that your projects–and your career–will be successful. And you will work hard to make it happen. But always be prepared to answer this question, “What if I hit an iceberg?”

The old adage ‘the more things change the more they stay the same’, is as true now as it ever was. A few weeks ago we heard on the news that a well known Telecoms’ supplier was whingeing that they were victims of their own success. They had sold too many of a service and couldn’t deliver the goods. Worse yet they could not supply the good customer services, to ensure client retention after the failures. The ensuing chaos led to more unhappiness with the supplier, due to the lack of good customer service response.
With this age of being able to reach and sell to so many people so fast, through mass selling, the attitude of throw a number of darts at the dartboard and some will stick, is disappearing and many darts are sticking more quickly, because so many people are being targeted and reached.
However this is a dangerous approach, because the damage done by failing to deliver can haunt a Company for years. I think Michael O’Leary of Ryan Air understands this. He promised a service and delivered it until the UK airports came to a grinding halt, with the recent ‘terror over the Atlantic’ plot. He took the bull by the horns and kicked up a fuss about our lack of ability to deal with the situation. If you are going to sell to the mass market, you had better be prepared for it, like organising a small military action, making sure all the people are in place, everyone is trained and knows what is expected of them and the right hand always knows what the left hand is doing. If the airports had been able to deal with the issues and why shouldn’t they, Mr. O’Leary would not have been so upset that, weeks after the crisis, things were still not back to working in an orderly fashion. After all we have been in competition for many years with Charles de Gaulle airport for Heathrow to be the best and first landing point in Europe.
So we are going back and in the case of many companies, large and small, we have gone full circle and now engage in making a proper sale. This is at present, rather limited to selling business to business. Salespersons know and understand their product. Questions are answered honestly and comprehensively and the salesperson knows they can deliver.
This is why so many organisations will employ a native speaker to sell into another country. This is not only because they speak the language , but because they understand the business culture and the way business people are expected to behave in that country. These sales people know how to professionally communicate with each other. We speak a ‘different’ language from the US for instance, when we say very soon, we often mean next week, the US will often interpret that as ‘tomorrow’. However a Spanish businessman may understand that this might take a few weeks and a German person will want to be given a precise date.
